Assurance of Equitable and Fair Balance Disclosure and Noncommercialism Agreement

In accordance with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, the Louisiana Pharmacists Association maintains a policy of non-commercialism, assuring that all CPE activities “provide an in-depth presentation with fair, full disclosure as well as objectivity and balanced.  Appropriate topics and learning activities shall be distinguished from those topics and learning activities that are promotional or appear to be intended for the purpose of endorsing either a specific commercial drug or other commercial product or a specific commercial service.” 


All faculty and personnel involved in the planning of these activities must complete this form.


As a provider of continuing education, as faculty or planning personnel, I will:

  1. “Meaningfully disclose*” any relevant interests that may affect the content of the educational activity being offered.
  2. Identify and resolve all conflicts of interest prior to the education activity being delivered to learners.
  3. Ensure the content of the educational activity will give a balanced view of appropriate topics to promote improvements or quality in healthcare and not specific proprietary business interests of a commercial interest. (Balanced view means that the recommendations or emphasis must fairly represent, and be based on, a reasonable view and valid interpretation of the information available in the subject and that no single product or service is over represented in the educational activity when other equal but competing products or services are available for inclusion.)


*Relevant financial relationships are financial relationships in any amount, which occurred in the 12 month period preceding the time that an individual is asked to assume a role controlling content of a CPE Activity, and which relate to the content of the educational activity, causing a conflict of interest.  Financial relationships create conflicts of interest in CPE when individuals have both a financial relationship with a commercial interest and the opportunity to affect the content of the CE about the products or services of that commercial interest.
