National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Saturday, October 27, 2018

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and its partners will host the 16th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time. The service is free and anonymous. (The DEA cannot accept liquids, needles, or sharps.)

Over 80 collection sites will be open across Louisiana. To find a site near you,

During the previous 15 events, the DEA and its partners collected more than 9.9 million pounds of expired, unused, and unwanted prescription medications. We know that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. If we reduce the availability of those unused or expired medications through proper disposal, the fewer drugs there are to be misused, and fewer people will be at risk for abuse, addiction, overdose, and even death.
