LABP Issues Emergency Rule re National Accreditation of Pharmacy Technician Training Programs

The following Emergency Rule was released on March 28, 2016:

Department of Health and Hospitals Board of Pharmacy: Accreditation of Pharmacy Technician Training Programs (LAC 46:LIII.905)

  • Released by the Board of Pharmacy
  • Effective March 24, 2016
  • The initial Emergency Rule was made effective November 2015.
  • The rule continues the delay in the implementation date of a rule that requires an applicant for a pharmacy technician certificate to demonstrate successful completion of a nationally-accredited pharmacy technician training program.
  • The original emergency rule changed the implementation date from January 1, 2016 to January 1, 2017.
  • The Board of Pharmacy is in the process of promulgating a final rule.
