The following information has been released by The Louisiana Board of Pharmacy

During its August 6, 2014 meeting, the Board approved a proposal to revise its pharmacy compounding rules to make them consistent with the new federal legislation on pharmacy compounding.  In addition, to address their concern that a pharmacist may inadvertently rely on the existing state rule and prepare certain products without a prescription using quality standards less than now required, the Board declared an emergency and made the new proposal effective on August 8, 2014 while it pursues the routine rulemaking process.  A copy of the Declaration of Emergency & Emergency Rule is available here.

You can track the progress of all of the Board's rulemaking activities by visiting the Board's website at, selecting the link for the Public Library, and then selecting the links for Regulatory Proposals and Regulatory Projects.
